National Round 3 at RSCL

33 drivers attended National Round 3 at RSCL on Sunday 16th August for another brilliant day of racing.

Rounds one and two were randomly drawn by current Junior World Champion Jaden Slater. The weather was overcast at the start of the meeting, with sunny spells developing throughout the day.

The opening rounds ran very smoothly, with barely any contact across the heats until Heat 5, where the first 15 laps proved a little more eventful. Car 685 lost its silencer, 63 pulled off and 191 was a non-starter.

Following a short lunch break, the heats were randomly shuffled by the day’s sponsor, Paul Jeffrey, before racing continued with rounds three and four. There were no major incidents to report, with drivers clearly focused on putting in the laps needed to secure a place in one of the two semi-finals.

One driver who particularly stood out was 189, recording 47 laps in each of his four races and taking two heat wins.

Once the heats were complete, the top two drivers of the day, Ben Harding and Kane Farren, progressed directly to the final.

Semi-final one saw Jaden Slater and Martin Watts secure their places in the final, while Ricky Slater and Ryan Cattell progressed from semi-final two to complete the six-driver line-up.

The final produced a fantastic battle between Kane and Ben, with the lead changing hands throughout the race. With just 30 seconds remaining, Kane managed to edge ahead and take the win, with Ben finishing a very close second.

Overall, it was a brilliant day of racing.

A huge thank you to Liz for providing food and water throughout the day, Karen for running race control and Paul Jeffrey for sponsoring the meeting and providing prizes for the best White, Yellow and Blue Top drivers of the day, as well as the driver finishing 15th and the final-position finisher.

Congratulations to all of the drivers and everyone involved in another successful National round at RSCL.
