Following the recent 12th circuit AGM the GT Circuit committee are pleased to share our plans for the upcoming national season.
Following on from our one off Grand Prix last season we are growing the season and will look to have at least three events with one of them being a Grand Prix format. The committee are working hard on securing venues and will have dates available soon.
After productive discussions with the racing community, the future of GT12 is officially expanding to offer more variety, lower costs and broader chassis options aligned with GT12 racing in the rest of the world.
There are now three national classes and the racing heritage of the current GT12 class will continue at our nationals and club racing.
GT12 – The original and fastest.
For those who love the current formula, GT12 isn’t going anywhere and will continue as a club, regional and national class with the same rules as last season.
Chassis – GT12 Specific Chassis.
Motor 13.5 Turns
Battery 1S
Weight 950G
Tyres – Open to any compound and shore.
Body – Any GT bodyshell off the BRCA list.

GT12 Evo.
The evolution of GT12 racing. This brand new class is designed to lower the barrier to entry and improve the ability of the cars to provide close quarters racing. The main changes are to allow any GT12 or LMP chassis and the move to a 17.5 motor. This increases the choice of what chassis you can run and the lower power makes the cars significantly easier to drive with only a small effect on laptimes. The cars weight has been reduced to make it accessible to as many chassis designs as possible and combined with the 17.5 motor provides excellent tyre wear. The lower weight allows the cars to run with similar performance to the current GT12 class and this will allow clubs to run the cars together in the same heats.
The class will run on a wide rear spec tyre, currently the Contact Purple Stripe and Ulti Blue stripe tyres are available and approved for use in the class. These provide excellent grip and have shown to have a low wear rate in testing reducing the cost of racing and levelling the playing field.

GT-Hypercar
Recognising the massive surge in popularity of realistic Le Man Hypercar style bodies over the last year, we are official introducing GT Hypercar.
This class will run to the same rules as the GT12 Evo class. Fancy a go, all you need to do is swap your bodyshell. Simples !

Bodyshell updates.
The minimum height for a race ready car has been reduced to 80mm. This will allow more bodyshells to achieve this height and the committee are currently updating the approved bodyshell list for GT cars and there will be a wider choice of the currently available shells on the list.
The GT-Hypercar list will also be available soon.
What this means for the current GT12 racer.
If you want to continue racing your car as it currently is then there is nothing you need to change. If you fancy having a go at the new evo class you will need to change the rear axle so that it has hubs from a LMP car on it to accommodate the wider rear tyres. Fit a 17.5t motor and a set of the spec tyres. Take some weight off the car and you are good to go.

In this setup the cars are super easy to drive with a wider setup window that will improve the racing for the newcomer to the sport right up to national A finalist.
If you then feel you want to get more speed it’s super easy to try your hand at LMP by dropping a 13.5t turn motor into the car.
The 12th section are really excited by the changes and the GT-committee look forward to seeing you trackside soon.
